Davey Todd has claimed consecutive Macau GP wins, if you count last year’s victory, which was awarded based on qualifying times, after the main event was cancelled due to a typhoon. It’ll be a much more satisfying celebration this year, having started from pole position, dominated the race from beginning to end, and set the fastest lap in the process.

This year, the weather again caused delays in the motorcycle schedule, and qualifying had to be moved from Friday to Saturday. However, the 12-lap race was run as planned.
Second place went to his teammate, Peter Hickman. He’d qualified third and began on the outside of the front row of the grid. When the lights went out, he looked to have pushed into second ahead of fellow front-row starter Erno Kostamo (Racing for Inclusion by RVS), but the Finn retook the position at Mandarin Bend.
However, a couple of laps later, Kostamo made a mistake, overshooting the corner at Lisboa Bend, allowing Hickman to move into the runner-up spot, a position he held until the chequered flag.
Following his mistake at Lisboa Bend, Kostamo dropped to fifth but soon recovered to move up into third, a position he held with some comfort until the end of the race.
Fourth place went to SMT Racing Honda’s Rob Hodson, his best-ever result at Macao, while Lukas Maurer (Hoffmann and LM by MRP) also had his best Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix finish in fifth.
David Johnson
Aussie David Johnson finished in seventh, racing for Racing for Inclusion by RVS (BMW), while New Zealand’s Mitch Rees took eighth for Jackson Racing powered by Proposer2 (Honda).

“It’s a fantastic feeling to win the Macau Grand Prix over race distance. Everything has worked perfectly all week. I got a great start and I was able to do my own thing from there. I was hoping to take the lap record as well; it’s definitely possible. I felt I had more to push with but as I had such a good lead, I just held off a little. I’m confident I could post a time of two minutes twenty-two.”

“It’s a great end to a difficult year for me,” said Hickman. “To come here to Macao and be strong is a huge bonus especially after the injuries I’ve suffered. It’s even better that the team has a 1-2 result and now we can look ahead to a strong season in 2026.”

“It’s been a chaotic week,” said the 2022 Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix winner. “Despite qualifying well, I was very nervous on the opening lap which is why I made the mistake braking into Lisboa and losing second place. From there it was all about damage limitation so I’m happy with the lap time and result.”

One of the sensations of the race was Maurizio Bottalico (Croweperformance / Bottalico), the Italian completing the twelve laps in sixth despite being a newcomer to the event.
